A brand new boutique estate agency in the Midlands is poised to turn the industry on its head - and challenge the jaded opinions many people hold about this business.
Mr & Mrs Clarke has opened its virtual doors in January 2015, offering a unique personal, bespoke service for those who want to buy and sell online – but don’t want to take on the whole job themselves. And the owners are looking for beautiful homes to sell for zero commission to launch the new business.
The agency, owned and run by Paul and Alexandra Clarke, will help homeowners buy and sell houses in Warwickshire, Birmingham and London to people who want high end service at a lower cost.
With the average house price in London at more than £400,000, more and more people are leaving the capital to buy a bigger home and enjoy a better lifestyle. Figures from the Office for National Statistics show that, in the year to June last year, 58,220 people aged 30-39 left the capital. But most of them won't be looking forward to dealing with estate agents.
Paul said: "Alex and I started Mr & Mrs Clarke when we moved back to the Midlands after more than 10 years living in London. We had become totally frustrated with the whole house-buying and selling business. It just didn't seem to have the customer at its heart.
“We, and many others like us, had experienced paying out a lot of money to estate agents without seeing much value for our investment. We know that a lot of people would rather do the whole thing themselves – but they just don’t have time, or aren’t quite ready for that.
"We both have years of experience in the property and marketing business and have a vision of a different - nicer - way of moving house. So we started Mr & Mrs Clarke to provide a discerningly different service to discerning home buyers and sellers."
The Clarkes want their estate agency to fill the gap between cheap and cheerful online agents and traditional bricks-and-mortar businesses. Their new agency combines the best aspects of online agencies and traditional agencies. Paul believes everyone will be buying and selling online in the future, but that most people are not yet comfortable showing strangers around their home and dealing with negotiations and lawyers themselves.
That's where Mr & Mrs Clarke comes in: they'll be there to hold sellers' hands throughout the whole process, providing a personal, bespoke, luxury service for sellers with lovely homes – but without the luxury price-tag. The Mr and Mrs Clarke team will provide the high-quality service homebuyers and sellers expect, but often don’t receive, giving great value for money. ‘’We provide the full service for sellers and because we don’t have expensive high street offices, we can charge a lower fee.’’
Mr & Mrs Clarke isn’t for everyone, though: the owners are looking for a specific type of house and a specific type of customer. So they’re inviting homeowners who want to sell their Midlands home to apply to be one of their first clients.
They’ll be selling three homes commission-free in January to celebrate the launch of their new business.
